thanks for responding to my post. My exampl...Nancy,
thanks for responding to my post. My example about the all jewish neighborhood was simply to show that history goes back very far.

Originally, if I am not mistaken, a small city named Urusalimum(sp) was ruled and lived in by a semetic tribe, whos name slips my mind. They were conquered by the Jebusites who were conquered by King David, where it became an all Jewish city....followed by the Babylonians during the babylonian exile, then the jews again...the greeks the romans the persians the ottomans...etc...

What im trying to say is that everywhere you go or live you are living where someone else used to live. Many groups have rightful historical claim to the land...thus many groups should be able to live there.

One thing that bothers me is that in Israel it is okay for muslims, christians, druze, bahai..etc...to live there. but in the West Bank and Gaza strip Israelis)jews) are not allowed to live there and are considered an obstacle to peace. Isnt demanding that Jews leave the palestinian lands similar to demanding that all non-jews leave Israeli lands?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868054365184232844.post-15337630091233678282009-08-02T21:44:56.228-07:002009-08-02T21:44:56.228-07:00Patriot-

I thank you for your dissent, without which no progress would ever be made.

I was given the information on the trees by representatives from ICAHD. It could be that I mis-quoted and/or mis-remembered. When I get home and have more time (I'm using my breakfast period) I will double check these facts and let you know.

As far as the armed guards: I am 100% sure you are correct in assuming these children asked to be walked home. But it is untrue that this land was all 100% Jewish. Until 1929, both Muslims and Jews lived in relative peace (like the peace that is afforded any family) in the Muslim Quarter. The same is true for the other quarters. All Abrahamic religions (as well as Bedouins, and others) have lived here for a long time.nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03258696572865113823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868054365184232844.post-32719796473488456462009-08-02T21:02:07.742-07:002009-08-02T21:02:07.742-07:00Your doing a wonderful think Nancy P. I'm so happy that you took this opportunity. I'm always thinking of you. Don't let any self righteous parasites attach onto your own reflections--only you know what you're experiencing there. At most, take every opportunity to gather more info. about these disputed facts. Palms, Cedars and Pines are all native to the area.
Date Palms have been there thousands of years and actually dont need much water as you claim to grow..that is why you notice them from the center of the country and southward more often. In the north you will find more cedars and pines.Pines needles are not poisonous to the earth they fall on, in fact pine needles help with water retention and allow the plant to flourish...the cedars are mentioned often in the scriptures and other texts dating back thousands of years.
As far as the black plastic buckets, are you referring to the big black plastic barrels on the rooftops? If so then those are on almost every israeli building and they use the natural heat from the sun for your hot water to cut energy bills.

On the topic of the armed guards in Jerusalem walking children home. There is armed security all of the country. The old city of Jerusalem has lots of armed border guards patrolling the city streets. They are not private guards to walk children home, I assume that the children being walked home asked these soldiers to accompany them. I am in Jerusalem every week, and used to live there as well, and have never seen this.
on a side note, they may be living in an ancient muslim neighborhood....but lets not forget that before anyone else, Jerusalem was an all Jewish city, the capitol of the ancient Israelite kingdom. So the argument could be made that the muslims and christians and armenians are living in an ancient Jewish neighborhood.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868054365184232844.post-23871996678047190122009-07-31T11:23:57.518-07:002009-07-31T11:23:57.518-07:00thanks Nancy. You have a unique perspective. One nice thing about Israel and America is that even if your intent is to find things they may not agree with, they still let you in if that's their only suspicion. I’m not sure they’d let me into Iraq to research what happened to Jews there in ’41…but hopefully they would. Have a safe, knowledge-filled experience. -AllisonAllison Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01001234074247883506noreply@blogger.com
